Of Sociopaths and Empaths.

Today i wake up 30 mins before my alarm goes on my cellphone… Actually i woke up trying to decipher a word in a dream that i said i had just dreamt of recently in the dream (confusing i know). I only remember a fragment of the dream before i woke up so…

I was walking along a familiar mall in my dream when I happened on a turn to the left near an escalator  and saw a couple standing near it. It was a nun in gray frocks and she was being hugged  from behind by a guy that actually looked more like her lover than anything else but then i noticed something odd with the nun, she kept spouting words as if she knew what was on a passerby’s mind! so i was observing her at first to confirm this as a passer-by showed up and she uttered something which made the person look at her. Decided I’d ignore her but as i looked closely when I passed by them, the nun was actually blind and was guided by the man behind her. She caught me wandering through my own thoughts as I passed her by and said something (but i couldn’t remember what it was). Then as I walked on to a store at the end of the hall, i hesitated to enter  at first but the nun began to call out “do as you must!!” so then bracing myself, i pushed the glass door open and went inside the little store.

As I went in, I was greeted by familiar faces. It actually turned out to be a small faculty room for the Religion department. There I saw my old high school religion teacher, Sir Michael and some lady from college. I don’t quite remember who she was but I knew she was an assistant in the dean’s faculty back then. As I looked in wonder around the store, everything was painted in bright white and stacked with little pastel colored books on the shelves. My teacher then said “So what brings you here again? Any problems?”

“Nothing really, just looking around for today.” I said with a smile. Then I turned around to be greeted by the lady with another question:

“I can’t pin this down right, somebody asked me to define Sociology without ever having to look at any of the books, only from memory.. I forgot though, what do you suppose it means? Any thoughts?”

“AH! I had a dream about that once! Uh.. let’s see…” I was scanning my thoughts for answers then suddenly got to saying “Sociology, from the word ‘Socios’ meaning to ‘interact’…” Then moments later, I found myself awake and still scanning my thoughts which lead me to this final definition:

Sociology, from the word ‘socios’ meaning ‘human interaction’ is a study on basic human relations with his environment, his relations with other people and his relations with himself. It also deals with complex and simple factors of how the human reacts and relates to thoughts and feelings within himself, his environment and the acknowledgement of the existence of a higher being.

AND SO…..

I googled it online just to see what it was really derived from. Strangely enough, I was ALMOST right on the word origin only with a few glitches :)) so I quote from WIKI:

Sociology is the scientific study of society.[1] It is a social science (a term with which it is sometimes synonymous) which uses various methods of empirical investigation[2] and critical analysis[3] to develop a body of knowledge about human social activity. For many sociologists the goal is to conduct research which may be applied directly to social policy and welfare, while others focus primarily on refining the theoretical understanding of social processes. Subject matter ranges from the micro level of individual agency and interaction to the macro level of systems and the social structure.[4]

The traditional focuses of sociology have included social stratificationsocial classculturesocial mobilityreligionsecularisationlaw, and deviance. As all spheres of human activity are affected by the interplay between social structure and individual agency, sociology has gradually expanded its focus to further subjects, such as healthmedicalmilitary and penal institutionsthe Internet, and the role of social activity in the development of scientific knowledge.

The word sociology (or “sociologie”) is derived from both Latin and Greek origins. The Latin word: socius, “companion”; -ology, “the study of”, and in Greek λόγος, lógos, “word”, “knowledge”.

HOW CREEPY IS THAT? :))) I know some of the “dream definition” was a bit of but then when you look at it, it still coincides with the wiki thing… or maybe I just knew most of it all along during my college years and actually forgot about it consciously and so I had to dig in my subconscious to filter the information.

So anyway, what does this all mean, I wonder? I guess I’ll find out in a couple more of days. I am aware, this is another learning task that i have to encounter… but.. what about it? >_< I feel like I’m about to go to the “school of life” to have a master’s degree on this topic :)) Ah well, let’s see what happens.
